I have always dreamt of the unknown. Not only of places but also objects and creatures of places unseen. And this time for sure the parts or pieces of places are inviting us. Places far away we have always heard…planets far away…
The news is that Fragments of Mars, the Moon and other asteroids that have fallen to Earth will be auctioned on October 14 in Manhattan. The largest public meteorite auction to be ever held as claimed by the auction house Heritage Auctions would display 125 items for the human eye to witness.
Darryl Pitt, the meteorite consultant for the auction said : Taken together every single meteorite known to exist would weigh significantly less than the world's annual output of gold.
This sale includes material from six meteorites that originated on large asteroid Vesta, the 'Live Science' reported.
As per the news, about 68 kilogrammes of moon meteorites are known to exist, and none has been found in Europe or America. Pieces of meteorites of Mars and the moon are much more rare, but they, too, have been launched by asteroid impacts.
The news reveals that about one quarter is said to have been on the cold desert of Antarctica. The thing to be noted is that Mars' rocks present a particular challenge to identify, because humans haven't been able to bring Martian rocks back to Earth, as has happened with Moon rocks. However, scientists do know the composition of Mars' atmosphere, and they have matched it to the composition of pockets of gas contained in some meteorites, confirming their Martian origin.
The auction is set to feature meteorites from both places, including a fragment of the Tissint meteorite, which fell in Morocco in July 2011. The auction also includes two halves from a 1.8-kilogramme lunar meteorite that is the fourth largest available for private ownership.
No matter you cannot go to mars or moon but now their parts; their pieces are here…feel a bit of the Mars; a bit of the Moon…lol…
HAVE A GREAT DAY !!
